Awards and Travel Funding Opportunity Requirements:

These awards are for Students, Medical Trainees and other Young/Early Career Investigators

1. Applicants must be ASN members.

2. Applicants must be a first author of an abstract submitted to one of ASN’s abstract categories.

3. Student, Fellow, and Trainee members must have their abstract sponsored by an ASN member.

  • The abstract submission site will prompt applicants for the name/institution/email of their ASN members sponsor as well as other information specific to each award.

4. Graduate students may only apply to one of the following competitions:

  • Clinical Emerging Leaders Award Competition
  • Graduate Student Research Award Competition
  • Young Minority Investigator Oral Competition

5. Postdoctoral fellows and other young investigators (within 5 years of receiving a doctoral degree) may apply to one or all of the following competitions:

  • Global Nutrition Early Career Scholar Award
  • Nutrition Translation Award Competition
  • Postdoctoral Research Award Competition

6. Medical trainees (interns/residents/fellows) may only apply to one of the following:

  • Clinical Emerging Leaders Award Competition
  • Postdoctoral Research Award Competition

7. All undergraduate and graduate students, medical trainees, and postdoctoral fellows will be considered for the Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Poster Competition.

  • This competition Is by invitation only – based on the quality of your submitted abstract.

Satellite Programs

Sponsored Satellite Programs provide an opportunity for external groups – industry, trade organizations, government, other scientific societies, etc. – to share and discuss research findings with the nutrition science community in conjunction with American Society for Nutrition (ASN) scientific meetings.  Sponsored Satellite Programs provide meeting attendees with additional educational opportunities.
